Dolfan Radio | Bye week
By Brad Michaels • October 14, 2026
I love them. I hate the record. Both of those are true this week.
We are 0–5. We have scored 70 points. We have allowed 132. That is 14.0 a game on offense and 26.4 on defense. The offense is 31st. The defense is 24th. The bye is here. The Jets are next, Sunday the 25th at MetLife, 1 p.m., CBS. That is the number. That is the calendar. Everything else is what you do with a week off when you have not won.
The run is good. We are 11th in the league at 126.6 rushing yards a game. Ollie Gordon has 47 carries for 236 yards and three touchdowns. He is the plan with Achane out. Against Cincinnati he had 18 for 88 and a score, left for a head-to-head check, came back, and still finished as the leading rusher. Malik Willis has 186 rushing yards and two scores on the ground. The legs are there. The yards on the ground are real.
The middle is good. Jacob Rodriguez has been finding the ball every week. Eleven tackles against the Bengals. Eighteen in Minneapolis. The young ones are playing and getting better. The margins have come down. Fourteen against the Raiders, twenty-two against the 49ers, fourteen against the Chiefs, five against the Vikings, seven against the Bengals. A young team can get better and still be 0–5. Both of those are true.
The pass is bad. We are last in the league in passing yards a game. Willis has 849 yards through five starts. Against Cincinnati he was 15 of 27 for 137, one touchdown, two interceptions, and a fumble lost. He was sacked three times. Jeff Hafley said you are never going to win turning the ball over three times. He is right. On the season Willis has taken a long time to throw. The line is young. The ball still has to be taken care of. Both of those are true.
The rush on the other side is not arriving. We did not sack Burrow. Not once. He threw four touchdowns on 190 yards and did not throw an interception. Know the receiver. Then get there. We have not done both. Special teams is still giving the other side free starts. Penalties put us behind the sticks. The problems that have cost the games are still the problems.

I have been in this chair since 1970. It is still my team. That does not mean I dress up 0–5. Gordon can run. Rodriguez can tackle. The kids are playing and the margins are smaller. I love that. I hate the turnovers. I hate a passing game that is last in the league. I hate a rush that does not get the quarterback on the ground. I hate that we are 0–5 and the bye is the first time we get a week to fix any of it.
The bye is for the ball, the pocket, and the coverage. Not for a speech. Take care of the football. Get the quarterback on the ground. Keep giving Gordon the ball. Wright has to give more than he has. The Jets are not a free win. They are 2–3. They are the next chance. If the first win is coming, it has to come out of this stretch. I expect them to get one. I have not seen it yet.
Dave stays the lead. I am next to him. The number does not change until we change it.
